The true Vagabond

tillandsia air plantYou are not bound to stay put,
yet feel grounded without
your roots in the soil.
Feed on which the wind brings to you.

You are the true vagabond.

This remarkable plant has a special place in our heart. We ‘discovered’ her in Borneo and smuggled one with us to the Azores. Here we found many relatives of our special friend that decorate balconies and porches.

The Tillandsia is also a relative of the pineapple, but this branch of the family, known as Air Plants, don’t have roots and feed by sucking the moist out of the air. Perfect for a 80%+ humidity climate here. We gave decorative cuttings to our friends to bring back home. Sure you haven’t seen them in bloom right?
